Miscellaneous
Does anyone else besides me find Doxo's new picture um, disturbing? It freaks me out. On the Creepy Scale, I give it a 9.5. For reference, the Centuri0n's Angry Eybrow would be about a 7, and the gleeful father watching his son bleed would be a 10.
In other news, has anyone been watching men's Curling in the Olympics? I hear I have a twin on the US team. Couldn't find a picture, but if someone has seen it, let me know.
Finally, in honor of Valentine's Day, one of my favorite passages on love:
Set me as a seal upon your heart,
as a seal upon your arm,
for love is strong as death,
jealousy is fierce as the grave.
Its flashes are flashes of fire,
the very flame of the Lord.
Many waters cannot quench love,
neither can floods drown it.
If a man offered for love

How God Speaks
My response to this post.
God doesn't speak to us anymore like He did in the OT.
Is that surprising? It shouldn't be. This is exactly the point made by the opening lines of the book of Hebrews:
"Long ago, at many times and in many ways, God spoke to our fathers by the prophets, but in these last days he has spoken to us by his Son, whom he appointed the heir of all things, through whom also he created the world. He is the radiance of the glory of God and the exact imprint of his nature..." (Heb 1:1-3a, ESV).
His Son came as His final revelation...to fulfill all the of things only hinted at in the OT. We don't need prophets because we have the one of whom they prophesied; we no longer need a human high priest because we have a heavenly one; we are no longer subject to the law because it has fulfilled it's job as our tutor, to lead us to Christ.

Is God an Accident of Evolution? The Next Step in Evolutionary Theory (Al Mohler)
This article by Al Mohler is about Paul Bloom, a Psych professor at Yale who posits that the reason for widespread belief in God is evolutionary in nature. I didn't read the Atlantic Monthly article, but I did read a piece that included Bloom's work in the Wall Street Journal a couple of months back.
Of particular note is this quote near the end of the article:
"Given his worldview, Paul Bloom would have us to recognize that we have outgrown the idea of God and that human beings should embrace a secular and scientific worldview, leaving the infantile residue of evolution behind."
I hope to tackle this prevailing "wisdom" among scientists in a post in the near future.

QOTW--Why do you Blog?
Question for the week: Why are you Blogging?
Evan May presents a cautionary post on blogging. He warns against two extremes...self-serving blogging on the one hand, and creating your own personal para-church organization on the other. I particularly appreciate his idea about inadvertantly bringing judgment upon yourself by assuming a teaching role, particularly for someone who is unprepared to teach.
But I wonder...are there more options than just these two extremes?
So my question for you is, why do you blog?
As for me, I'm still trying to answer that question. I think I want my blog to include theology, but between Evan's post and this one from Jerry Wragg, I'm beginning to wonder what it is I'm even doing out here.
