Have you watched the video from the SRB's yet? Fantastic stuff...
BTW, I have appreciated your comments from afar for a while -- but I have never checked out your profile -- I, too, am a Sherlockian type... Not an expert, but I love, not just Conan Doyle, but many of the writers who have continued that legacy..
My favorite Sherlock was Jeremy Brett...
Lots of stuff you probably could care less about -- And I also ride (motorcycle) through Arkansas often -- what a beautiful state.
I loved Brett, but I grew up on Basil Rathbone, so (for me anyway), he sets the standard. I missed the last couple they played on PBS (we only have rabbit ears, and so it's hit-or-miss).
I'm glad you came by, b/c I've been meaning to link to you.
This is beautiful country. I was born and raised in Phoenix, came out here for college, met my wife, and we moved back to Phoenix. Then my job took me to Austin, TX, and then after that job ended, we moved here to be close to my in-laws.
I happen to be of the opinion that the TV show House is an ipso-facto adaptation of Holmes, down to the drug addiction, the prickly personality, the "pure logic" dictum of deductive reasoning, etc.
I've been meaning to give those books a re-read. Thanks for the reminder.
I think my reason for Jeremy Brett over Rathbone is that Granada did a much better job (IMHO) of staying loyal to Conan Doyle than did Universal who seemed to take too many liberties (although I own all of them)... :-)

Oh, and . . . it's gotta be Rathbone, of course. But I think there may be a great Holmes yet to come. We'll have to keep our eyes peeled.
