One of the Best Bands You've Never Heard Of

To help Kim out in her search for good music

I'm referring to Eden's Edge. They're a local talent--Arkies--and their music is a mix of folk, bluegrass, and southern gospel.

If you'd like to take a listen, you can listen to 2 minute samples of the latest album here (or dial-up here). You can also hear full versions of select songs from their web page. Let me warn you--once you've heard the appetizer, you'll want the main course.

Your Holiness and In Christ Alone are worth the price of the album. Beats secular pomo-istic schlock and most "mainstream" Christian music by a country mile.

Here's a line from In Christ Alone

Don't measure me by battles won
Or some good deed that I have done
In Christ alone will I be found
Worthy of that golden crown

I only have Lights of Home, but their first album is available as well, and you can buy both for a "special internet deal" from their website.

We have some Eden's Bridge CDs. They do a really great version of "Be Thou My Vision."

I like them, too. They've got a good, Celtic sound to them.

Maire Brennan, if I remember right. We have their Christmas album, and it's one of our favorites.

If you have time, go take a listen to Eden's Edge and tell me what you think.

Dude, better be good. I don't like Country, but my wife does, so I got them for her. (Actually liked the samples I heard.)

Now, vintage Sons of the Pioneers... that's different.

DJP: I'm a pretty big music fan. Almost every genre has something to offer.

That said, I put country far down on the list--right above hip-hop and death metal.

This is nothing like that. I feel confident you'll like it.

Got them, and they're pretty much a hit. Pretty voice, beautiful harmonies.

But what's that about Be Thou My Vision and a Christmas album? Appears to me they only have the two, and that hymn's on neither.

Glad to hear it!

We were talking about two different bands. The one I was talking about--and the one you just got, is Eden's Edge. The one Kim is talking about is Eden's Bridge. The former is folk/bluegrass; the latter is Celtic.

That's what I get for not reading better. Eden's Bridge has a Christmas album, too? We like Celtic. I'll have to check them out.

You can check out samples of the songs here. I have a bunch of Christmas albums, and this one is in my top 10--probably top 5 even.
